Character Profile: Eliza from Anomaly by J.C. Emery

Title: Anomaly
Series: Book #1 of Birthright
Author: J.C. Emery
Genre: YA/NA (Paranormal Romance, Vampires)

Synopsis. Life as a college senior is stressful enough. Between mid-terms, stupid boys, and a rare blood condition, Eliza Landry is just trying to figure out what normal is—whatever that means—when she discovers that vampires aren’t just a thing of legend.

In a matter of moments, her life changes forever when she and her older sister Kate suffer a vampire attack which leaves Eliza with two puncture wounds on her neck and an allergy to sunlight. But she’s still human, or at least she thinks she is. It doesn’t really matter—her main concern is that her sister is missing.

Sorrow turns to obsession, leading Eliza to piece together the puzzle of that terrifying night. Even stumbling upon a millennia-old vampire assassin named Luke Conrad who demands she stop looking into vampire affairs cannot deter her.

When bodies start piling up and one of them is supposedly Kate, Eliza and Luke set out to discover who is behind the attacks. Soon, Eliza is drawn into the dark and dangerous world of the undead, with no guarantee she’ll make it out alive, and no doubt that she won’t like what she finds.

**Looks like Anomaly is Due out at the end of March and i'll try to get a cover reveal soon**

Eliza Beth Landry

My name is Eliza Beth Landry and I’m twenty-one years old. Yeah, Eliza Beth-- not something normal like Elizabeth. Nope. My mother (God rest her soul) named me Eliza Beth. Anyway, my name’s just a footnote in the weird stuff that’s been going down lately. About the whole being twenty-one thing? I was so excited to turn twenty-one last December. I could finally drink (legally) with my sister Kate. Well, now because of an idiot vampire, I’m sporting bite marks of the permanent variety on my neck and well, tanning is now officially out. As a born and bred New Orleanian I’ve heard all of the legends and stupid stories I was sure were bogus. These days I just try to keep my head down and avoid any perma burns.

I’m not really a vampire-- yet-- but it seems like come this December I won’t be aging any. I’m still sorting out how I feel about that. To make matters worse, the genius (or so they tell me) vampires I’ve met have no clue why I’m changing at all. It’s not like I completed the ritual. And I think the actual worst part about all of this is that idiot vampire did something awful to my sister. She disappeared and the sister I knew and loved is like totally gone now. At least I’m pretty sure she is.

The one actually (kind of) cool aspect of this whole vampire business is my super handsome, incredibly presumptuous, but so totally fanged amateur detective partner, Luke Conrad. Well, I’m an amateur; he’s a millennia-old assassin who heads up a rebel organization of vampires. And I so completely have a crush on him. Did I mention that he’s a good kisser?

     About the Author
As a child, JC was fascinated by things that went bump in the night. As they say, some things never change. Now, as an adult, she divides her time between the sexy law men, mythical creatures, and kick-ass heroines that live inside her head and pursuing her bachelor’s degree in English. As it is for most writers, finding balance is a challenge.

JC is a San Francisco Bay Area native, but has also called both Texas and Louisiana home. She was born to a pair of crazy amazing parents whom she often draws inspiration from and who have supported her no matter how flighty her ambitions may be. She is blessed with a sister, eleven years her junior, who she also calls her friend. With the support and encouragement of her parents behind her, JC set out to figure out what she wanted to do when she grew up. Most days, the jury is still out; but the thing that stuck with her no matter what she pursued was her love of the written word.

JC writes adult, new adult, and young adult fiction. She dabbles in many different genres including science fiction, horror, chick lit, and murder mysteries; but she is most enthralled by supernatural stories-- and everything has at least a splash of romance.
