Author of the Day: Lisa Bouchard

Lisa Bouchard
I am 9 days older than Star Trek. I thank any and all deities that I have never had to live in a world without Mr. Spock.

I probably spend way too much time watching television. I blame the internet. Seriously, my lack of will power has nothing to do with it. Now that I can wait and watch an entire season of a show at once I get sucked in and don’t come up for air until about 2 in the morning. I think this goes along with my love for long songs, multi-book series, and four hour movies.

My life seems to be a series of crazy ideas, from ‘go to college across the country where you don’t know anyone’ to ‘four kids sounds like a great idea’ to ‘writing novels for a living sounds like a great plan’. My latest crazy idea is to hike the Appalachian Trail all at once, with my long-suffering husband. He’s taking it rather well.

I live in southern New Hampshire with my husband and our four children. I am the author of the Morrison Investigations series.

     Her Book
What would you do if you had a superpower you couldn’t use?

Darcy and Olivia Morrison are telepaths, but if they use their power they will be caught by the Telepathic Corps, taken away and never heard from again.

Everywhere they look they see people suffering, both telepath and normal, and feel compelled to help. Traditional avenues - police, fire, medicine - are unavailable to them because these professions test for telepathy. Undaunted, they opened their own private investigation firm.

Telepathic rights is the hot-button issue of their time. George Wynton leads this crusade from Boston, where he is opposed by a secret group called The Twenty, whose only goal is to eliminate all telepaths.

When a horrific murder is discovered, all clues lead to Wynton. It doesn’t help that he was discovered talking to the victim, the only woman he has ever loved.

With his life at stake, Darcy and Olivia are bullied by his lawyer into taking the case even though it is out of their depth. If they do not prove his innocence, the nation’s only champion for telepaths will spend his life in jail, or worse.

Although Suzy is a Yorkshire lass at heart, she left her home town of Rotherham, UK, to move to Portugal with her family when she was ten. The Algarve continues to be her home, where she lives with her childhood sweetheart husband Michael and their menagerie of cats and dogs. Her love of writing developed and a few years later she moved on to become assistant editor for the region's largest English language publisher. Since then she has also worked as the editor of one of the Algarve's most loved monthly lifestyle magazines. Early in 2010 however, Suzy began working as a freelance writer and author.      The Books
The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw, a Morgan Sisters novel.

Adopted sisters Lana Beth and Emma Jane are polar opposites, but when the same strange 'tattoo' suddenly appears and winds its way up their bodies within days of each other, they soon realise there's more to their relationship than they could ever have imagined.

Sent off to London for two weeks of 'work experience', the Morgan Sisters soon find themselves being initiated into the ancient Praxos Foundation, one that protects the innocent while fighting evil, both human and supernatural.

At the same time, Lana Beth and Emma Jane must also investigate why the sweet but sometimes pesky ghost of Josiah Grimshaw just won't leave them alone.

Book 1 of the Raven Saga.

Her whole life had been based on a lie. Lilly had grown up in a loveless home with a father who she had barely ever seen and a mother who was... well, not very motherly.

After they mysteriously disappear without a trace, Lilly is sent to Canada where she finds a whole new way of life. A life filled with love and people who care for her. But that's not all she discovers, Lilly also finds out that she isn't who, or what, she thinks she is.

Lilly has a very special ability and it's just a matter of time before her true self starts to shine. And when it does, her life will never be the same again.

Author of the Day: K.C. King

K.C. King
K.C. King's love affair with books began with Charlotte's Web when she was eight. A true Aquarian, she's a dreamer whose John Grisham obsession resulted in her choice to study linguistics and law. When she's not writing, travelling, or enjoying cappuccinos in kangaroo cups, you'll probably find her in her own world: Somewhere between Metropolis and Austen's 19th Century England.

     The Books
The Tri-Realms Saga, Book #1: Anomaly.

“I was transfixed as I watched him; his skin was simply luminous in the sunlight, yet not a bead of sweat sheened his face. I could have remained entranced by him for hours, for in this state he was simply magnificent, almost – supernatural.

The spontaneous thought raised goose bumps on my arms as I saw him – I recognised him – for the first time. It wasn’t that there was something unusual about Sebastian, it was that he was entirely unusual. He was beyond human.”

22-year-old Bree Spencer hates prejudice of all kinds – especially the blatant elitism she is subjected to as a resident staffer at her aunt’s exclusive estate, Blackall Manor. So when Bree nearly winds up as road-kill on account of the wealthy Sebastian Templeton, she struggles to reconcile her inexplicable attraction to him. On the surface Sebastian epitomises all that Bree usually despises, yet her draw to him is irrefutable.

Events become decidedly more unusual upon Sebastian’s arrival as a guest at Blackall Manor. Despite her reservations, Bree finds Sebastian intriguing; but his insistence to get to know her triggers a raft of niggling suspicions – heightened by a series of strange dreams and phenomena – until eventually, she learns the truth.

Sebastian is a guardian, a powerful descendant of a sacred ethereal line; and Bree’s uncanny gift has prompted him to find her. But while an anomaly inspired their connection, an ancient prophecy and ethereal lore forbid it. And with Sebastian’s purist brother determined to honour both at any cost, an epic battle with unthinkable stakes could be Bree’s only chance at survival.

The Timing Fate Series, Book #1: Oreacle.

"He doesn’t move, studying me with an intensity I can’t explain. And that’s when it happens – the moment I’m blindsided by the imminent collision of time and fate. For one, surreal moment my sense of self bleeds away, and I become all that I’ve seen, and all that will come to be at my choosing."

It’s been two years since Paige Prescott discovered the gift that nearly got her committed. But now she knows better than to tell anyone about the visions that plague her: futures for which she’s fated, unless she can change them first.

But when a tragic event unfolds on the last day of senior year, Paige’s carefully crafted façade shatters, plunging her into a dangerous new reality where her gift is a coveted weapon – and she learns she's not the only one with a secret.

Now, torn between a world she thought she knew and one she wished she didn’t, Paige must rely on her gift – and the guidance of a veiled enigma – to outmaneuver a formidable kind. But if she wants to reclaim her future, she’ll have to make a stunning choice: one bound by love, loyalty, and lies –

And the power of timing fate.

     The Books
Seventeen-year-old Ciardis has grown up in poverty, a cleaner in a small vale on the outskirts of the kingdom. But beneath her kingdom’s seemingly idyllic surface lies a hidden secret. Whispers of an inept crown Prince are growing ever louder—intensified by the five year anniversary of the soulbond initiations.

Amidst scandalous whispers, Ciardis finds herself chosen to train for the Companion’s Guild. She leaves her home and sets off on a personal journey to become a Court Companion. A position she’d never thought possible for a lowly servant to obtain, she must prove that she has the skills to attract a Patron.

But she must master those skills quickly. If the legends are true, only Ciardis can harness the power to raise a Prince in an Imperial Court sworn to bring him down.

This sensational series debut melds intricate storylines with remarkable characters and unforgettable magic. Sworn To Raise is ideal for fans of Kristin Cashore, Michelle Sagara, and Maria Snyder.

A magical accident threw them together. But when Fate holds all the cards, it can be impossible to tell the difference between pure chance and Destiny...

The Madrassa, a magical school for mage practitioners, is the stuff of legend. With selective entrance exams and quotas for only the most advanced of mage children, it's almost impossible to attend.

When Allorna, a guardian trainee for the royal family, ends up on the doorstep of the citadel on the eve of the final day of a recruitment ceremony, she decides it must be fate.

She was sure she knew the path her life would take before she enrolled. But sometimes life has a way of throwing in magical curveballs and strange friends, just to see if you’ll trip up.

Oh, and one of those friends is a mage accused of murder, another is a slightly psychotic dragon, the third a healer facing an existential crisis, and the last is a female storm-caller with more hidden secrets than a thief lord.

Do they all belong at the new school they call home?

This book is suitable for ages 12 and over. It is free of nudity, sexuality and only light cursing. The book is inclusive of LBGT and racial diversity.

She will be more powerful than the Blood could have ever imagined. He will not claim a mortal Queen and will do anything to stop her. Their battle will begin in September 2013.

Author of the Day: Melanie Cusick-Jones

Melanie Cusick-Jones
After graduating from The University of Sheffield with an English Literature Masters in 2003, Melanie has been writing fiction - time permitting - ever since.

The Ambrosia Sequence (started in 2008) and The Elementals (begun in 2004) are both ongoing, extended projects each containing several novels, aimed primarily at young adults and hover somewhere in the middle of sci-fi, futuristic and fantasy genres.

'Hope's Daughter', released in January 2012, is her debut novel and the first of The Ambrosia Sequence; the companion book 'The Rainbow Maker's Tale' is due later in 2012, with the sequel 'Outlanders' coming in 2013.

When she's not writing Melanie enjoys the wet weather of the north of England with her dogs or disappearing into a book for a few hours (no surprise there then). Unfortunately, all too often the 'day job' gets in the way of the nicer things in life!

     The Ambrosia Sequence
Book #1. Life should be simple for Cassie.

For the small population of Earth survivors who live on the Space Station Hope everything they do is planned and scheduled, down to the cyclical food menus, their roles in the station, even how many children they have.

Despite rigid controls directing her life, Cassie feels more out of synch than ever and worries she won’t find a place for herself within the station community. Perhaps that’s because she’s hearing things inside her head that can’t possibly be real. Or maybe it’s the regular elopements of her peers, heading off to a romantic future in the Married Quarter of the space station, whilst she’s never even been attracted to a boy – no matter how hard her best friend Ami pushes them at her. Then there are the odd questions her work placement partner Balik keeps raising. His questions are just as troubling for her as his distracting smiles and eyes that seem to see inside her.

As Cassie draws closer to Balik she finds that everything else in her life begins to shift. He tells her things that call into question the system they live within. She can't believe he is right, but at the same time she finds it hard to deny the sincerity of his ideas. Could there be a connection between Cassie’s problems and Balik’s questions? The truth will drag them both to a terrifying and deadly conclusion beyond anything they could have imagined.

Book #1.5. Outwardly, Balik is an obedient member of society on Space Station Hope...he follows The Council's systems, excels at school and seems happy to follow in his parents footsteps...

But Balik's real life is filled with secrets he can share with no one. As he follows his suspicions about the space station into ever more dangerous territory it seems like his whole world will unravel around him...but he doesn't understand everything...things are wrong, he is sure of that - but why exactly, he doesn't know.

When Cassie unexpectedly comes into his life, Balik struggles to find his balance. For years he's investigated the oddities of the world he lives in, but Cassie makes him question things in a different way... Can he believe in this girl who seems so much a part of the system he distrusts? Would she put a stop to his plans to break out if she knew what he was really up to? Balik can't be sure of anything - except the fact that he can't leave her alone.

Annabell Cadiz
Annabell Cadiz was born in the sweltering heat of South Florida. She was raised surrounded by Puerto Rican chefs and band of siblings that weren’t all related to her. Having been raised in a Christian household that offered helped to anyone who showed by in need, her childhood was full of chaos, which was a good source for storytelling material ;) When she was sixteen years old, Annabell began her journey into the writing world and has been hooked ever since.

A self-proclaimed nerd and book-a-holic (her room does hold much evidence to prove her claims are justifiable), Annabell created TeamNerd Reviews to showcase her EXTREME love for novels where, along with her best friend, Bridget Strahin, she hosts book reviews, interviews, giveaways, Indie Shoutouts and much more. She also offers blog tour services for authors and has had the pleasure of being published in three separate issue of Suspense Magazine.

When she isn’t writing, you can find Annabell yelling on the sidelines at her nephew’s soccer practices and games, having movie nights with her girlfriends, or hanging out with her very big family. She adores Cinnamon Teddy Grahams, has an addiction to Minute Maid Orange juice, and is a proud Jesus Freak.

     Sons of Old Trilogy
Book #1 Lucifer. Have you ever wondered what could be hiding in the shadows?

Well, for eighteen-year-old Zahara Faraday, she doesn’t have to wonder. You see she comes from a lineage of Light Witches, those who have chosen to help protect and serve between the supernatural world and the human world. The only problem is Zahara, like her father Solomon, is as human as a human being can be whereas her mother, Mia, and her Aunt Catalina, were born as Light Witches. As a family they hunt down rogue supernaturals—creatures who harm humans or who have committed an act against their kingdom.

Zahara’s hunting skills are usually kept dormant since her parents would prefer she live life as a normal human girl without knowledge of the supernatural world. She plans on doing just that—except when she finds a couple being attacked by fairies, she has no choice but to step in. Before she can return to pretending to be blissfully ignorant, Zahara encounters a problem she isn’t the least equip to handle: Bryan Hamilton, the good looking new co-worker she has to help train. In a heartbeat, her best friend, Becca King, has set her up on a double date with herself and her new crush, Rekesh Saint-Louis, who happens to be the most powerful leader of the biggest Imago Coven in South Florida –supernatural creatures with the ability to control water . . . and suck out human souls.

Zahara has no time to focus on how she’s going to explain her double date with her best friend and the enemy they have a tentative truce with to her parents because soon one of the members of Mia and Catalina’s coven is found murdered with a strange tattoo of a snake with wings carved into his arm.

Zahara is then thrown into a whirlwind battle with an angel determined to have revenge against God, an Imago coven she doesn’t think they should trust, and slew of dream-eating fairies and powerful Nephilims, hybrid children of angels and humans, more than happy to rip her to shreds.

Normal just got a deadlier definition.

Author of the Day: J.C. Emery

J.C. Emery
As a child, JC was fascinated by things that went bump in the night. As they say, some things never change. Now, as an adult, she divides her time between the sexy law men, mythical creatures, and kick-ass heroines that live inside her head and pursuing her bachelor’s degree in English. As it is for most writers, finding balance is a challenge.

JC is a San Francisco Bay Area native, but has also called both Texas and Louisiana home. She was born to a pair of crazy amazing parents whom she often draws inspiration from and who have supported her no matter how flighty her ambitions may be. She is blessed with a sister, eleven years her junior, who she also calls her friend. With the support and encouragement of her parents behind her, JC set out to figure out what she wanted to do when she grew up. Most days, the jury is still out; but the thing that stuck with her no matter what she pursued was her love of the written word.

JC writes adult, new adult, and young adult fiction. She dabbles in many different genres including science fiction, horror, chick lit, and murder mysteries; but she is most enthralled by supernatural stories-- and everything has at least a splash of romance.

Series Prequel. Ethan Harris never thought monsters and darkness would consume his daily thoughts, but every night the same visions repeat in his dreams. He’s careful to project a semblance of normalcy, keeping the suffocating darkness locked inside. As much as he wishes he could focus on girls, sports, and cars like other seventeen-year-olds; nothing distracts him from his own demons or shines through.

Until Nara Collins crosses his path. The blonde fascinates and intrigues him, giving him a measure of peace he’s never felt before.

When Ethan discovers there’s more to Nara than she allows others to see, that she might have a unique secret of her own, suddenly his world comes into focus.

Book 1. Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore.

After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate.

Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.

Book 2. Once Nara combines her prophetic ability with Ethan’s power to outsmart Fate at his own deadly cat-and-mouse game, she’s more determined than ever to help Ethan learn the meaning behind the raven sword tattoo that suddenly appeared on his back after their confrontation with Fate.

During her quest to uncover the tattoo’s secrets, Nara enlists the help of some new friends and discovers her own surprising connection to Ethan.

While Nara digs deeper into the mystery, her desire for answers leads her down a dangerous path full of powerful and ruthless enemies. Swept into an age-old battle, Nara quickly learns that keeping one’s enemies close can be a necessary evil, making an intangible enemy she can control far more preferable to the human enemies she can’t.

Author of the Day: Heather Hildenbrand

Heather Hildenbrand
Heather Hildenbrand was born and raised in a small town in northern Virginia where she was homeschooled through high school. She now lives in coastal VA, a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean, with her two adorable children. She works from home, part time, as a property manager and when she's not furiously pounding at the keyboard, or staring off into space whilst plotting a new story, she's lying on the beach, soaking in those delicious, pre-cancerous rays.

Heather loves Mexican food, hates socks with sandals, and if her house was on fire, the one thing she'd grab is her DVR player.

Heather is a co-founder of Accendo Press, a publishing group she operates with fellow authors: Angeline Kace and Jennifer Sommersby. Whisper. The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…

Dreamkiller Saga. They call her the DreamKiller.

Silent, stealthy, and above all, accurate, as long as she carries out exactly what her dreams predict. Marlena Gormand kills to protect. Herself. Her way of life. The children at Little Hearts Orphanage. Until she learns these are not the reasons she’s been asked to kill. Not at all.

Azura Mkesky is the headmistress of Little Hearts Orphanage and the only parent-figure Marlena remembers. Azura taught Marlena everything she knows, from her combat skills to her unswerving loyalty to their cause. And Azura has always been there for her. But Azura has a secret. One that she’s used and manipulated Marlena and everyone else in order to protect.

Lukas Hristov knows Azura’s heart is dark—from both personal experience and the visions provided by his Sight. For too long, he’s stood aside while Azura’s reach of power and deception expands. When he can take it no longer and emerges from the shadows, he comes face to face with Marlena. For him, she is where it began. And she is where it ends. He is determined to make this right, to make her believe the truth.

And as the story unravels, Marlena begins to question whose secrets her dreams really protect.

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.

     The Books
All Things Different. "I know that the night is not that same as the day: that all things are different, that the things of the night cannot be explained in the day, because they do not then exist." ~ Ernest Hemingway

Late in the summer of 2005, starkly independent Jake Thornton was on the verge of turning 16, expecting little more than his driver’s license in the fall, and the continuance of the quiet life shared with his father. So when 14-almost-15 year old Sara moved in next door and began vying for his father’s attention, Jake wasn’t exactly thrilled, and couldn’t quite understand his father’s motives for allowing it. But certainly he never anticipated the dramatic shift their lives would take as a result.

As the summer fades and autumn takes over, friendship between the two teenagers begins blossoming into a bond, until fate steps in once more, threatening to tear them apart as quickly as they’ve come together. The decisions that follow, and the emotive tale that results, opens Jake’s eyes to the simple yet life altering truth, a truth that Sara has understood all along: that love—not the feeling but the action—is the most powerful force in the world.

Silver-White. “The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”
~ Robert Frost

*Evie’s family has been holding out on her …

Big time.

On an unexpected visit to her grandparents’ house in New Hampshire’s secluded North Woods, the sixteen-year-old literally runs into the truth of the long-hidden family secrets, and finds herself thrust without warning into the clandestine world of the Great North Pack—a wild and exhilarating world of rugged beauty, heart-pounding adventures, and long nights running under a sea of stars … but as she’s set to discover, a world also fraught with potential dangers lurking in the shadows.

Author of the Day: Melissa Pearl

Melissa Pearl
I used to be a full time teacher (11-13 year olds) then I became a full time mother. During that time I also found my passion for writing. Over the last ten years I have been studying the craft and putting myself out there.

My first trilogy came out in November, 2011. It has been a wild year swimming in this indie river and I have loved so much of it. I have learned so many amazing things and met so many great people. It has totally solidified the fact I want to be a writer for as long as I possibly can!

I now have five books published and am working on a new YA Fantasy trilogy for 2013. I am having so much fun with it and can't wait to share it with everybody.

I am from New Zealand, but am currently living in China with my husband and two sons. It has been a culture shock, but it's pretty cool living in such a different country.

     The Books
Time Spirit Trilogy. Gemma Hart never knows when her father is going to whisk her back in time. Her toes start tingling and she has a few minutes to find a secret haven where she can disintegrate and appear in another time and place. While “across the line,” her training and skills are put to the test as she completes a mission that will change history for the lucky few her father has selected.

Gemma's parents are adamant that secrecy is paramount to her family’s safety. If people knew what they were capable of, they could be "used and abused", as her mother always says. Afraid she might accidentally utter the truth and break the ancient oath of her people, Gemma spends her school days as a loner. Only one thing can throw her sheltered life askew... Harrison Granger.

Harrison never expected to talk to the strange Hart girl, but after a brief encounter he can't stop thinking about her. He begins a campaign to chisel away her icy veneer and is met with unexpected consequences. As he slowly wins this girl over, he enters a surreal world that has him fighting to keep his newfound love and his life.

Betwixt. Beautiful, wild-child Nicole Tepper is hit by a car and left for dead. But when she wakes the next morning, Nicole finds herself in bed without a scratch. Perhaps she was more intoxicated than usual, as her mother is giving her the silent treatment and her friends are ignoring her as well.

Things take a turn for the weird when Nicole soon discovers she is actually hovering between life and death. Her body is lying in the forest while her spirit is searching for anyone who can hear her. Unfortunately the only person who can is Dale Finnigan, the guy she publicly humiliated with a sharp-tongued insult that has left him branded.

Desperate, Nicole has no choice but to haunt Dale and convince the freaked-out senior to help her. Will he find her body before it's too late? Or will the guy who tried to kill her with his car, beat him there and finish her off before anyone finds out?

Author of the Day: Lorena Angell

Lorena Angell
I've always told stories. Even as a child my parents would set a timer to try to limit the ramblings my brain was kicking out. I guess back then the stories were only intriguing to me. I love the unexpected twist, the ‘Snape’ characters who are not what you think, and good chemistry between the sexes. I try to incorporate these into my books basically because I write what I like to read.

Most of my book ideas come through my dreams. I feel sorry for anyone who says they don’t dream because my dreams are vivid and detailed. My “Scars of Defiance” series began as a recurring dream over 15 years ago. It took me until 2005 to begin trying to write the dream down which proved to be a bit difficult; I never excelled in English class. A Diamond In My Pocket was a dream also. However, it was a rare event for me because: 1)It was fantasy and I never dream in fantasy settings, and 2)The dream had a beginning, middle and end. I remember waking up and thinking, “Wow! I’ve got to write that down!” I spent the better part of four days typing 50,000 words and not much of the original storyline has changed. There were parts which didn’t fit into the story such as other powers and abilities, but those will be brought out in the books to come. My 20yr old son helped me immensely with the ‘lore’ of the magical diamond and possibilities of where the story could go.

My husband is very supportive of my writing. When I finally let him read my rough draft of The Dictator’s Daughter, (the first book I wrote), he was floored. He told me he had to keep reminding himself his wife wrote it. He also began to wonder, “Who is this woman I’m married to?” His favorite book is Scars Of Defiance and he feels everyone should read The Dictator’s Daughter before Scars of Defiance. I chose to go with chronological order when numbering my series, but now you have his recommendation.

Some tidbits about myself: I married my wonderful husband in 89’ and am still married to him. We have three kids, one son and two daughters.

Over the last 20 years I’ve worked the craft fair circuits selling hand-painted wall hangings, been a Pampered Chef consultant demonstrating over 250 kitchen shows and trade shows, I operated my own catering business specializing in wedding receptions and Christmas parties, I operated a State licensed home daycare for five years(gray hair from that one), sold Senegence cosmetics, worked a short stint at a juvenile detention center, another short stint at a grocery store bakery(4am shifts are for the birds), worked in a family practice medical office as a file clerk, and operated a jewelry business buying from bidz.com and selling on ebay(I love shiny things).

I love my little family and our close bond, and it is my hope to be able to help my children through college by selling my books.

Authors of the Day: Rebecca Gober & Courtney Nuckels (Part 2)

Welcome back everyone to part two! Rebecca and Courtney are BFI so i wanted to feature both of them but didn't want to split them up! So i decided to feature them for Authors of the Day for two days instead! :D Here's yesterdays post in case you missed it!

Co-Authors Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels

Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels are down home country girls powered by chocolate and other random late night cravings. Coined in southern twang, they bring new meaning to the word y'all. BFI's since the 6th grade, with a knack for getting into sticky situations, has resulted in countless ideas to write about for years to come.

Rebecca and Courtney co-authored their first book, a young adult paranormal romance: Night Marchers in October 2011. They released their second book in The Night Marchers Series: Redemption, in February 2012. Since then they have gone on to write a new young adult apocalyptic series called The ELE Series. Currently there are three books published in The ELE Series: Project ELE, Finding ELE and Exposing ELE. They will be releasing the fourth book in the series, Surviving ELE, in February 2013.

When not writing, Rebecca and Courtney spend time in their Texas homes with their families and their oversized dogs who still think they are puppies.

Creating ELE

Courtney and I have been best friends since the 6th grade. We took that friendship to a new level in October 2011 when we decided to partner together to write our first novel, Night Marchers. Since then we have gone on to write the sequel to that series: Redemption, as well as three books in our most recent series: The ELE Series.

The ELE Series has become our favorite journey through writerdom yet! We've been asked what inspired us to create this series, and to be honest there are a number of factors that led us to create the world around Project ELE.

After reading The Hunger Games trilogy as well as a few of our other favorite dystopian genre novels, we knew that we wanted to try out a futuristic setting for our next quest. We played around with several different ideas and all of them kept coming back to a heroine with amazing powers who would eventually learn to kick bad-guy-butt. We also came to the agreement that we wanted to have a series that starts at the beginning of an apocalyptic event as opposed to the aftermath in the future after such an event had occurred. After many Skype dates in search of the perfect plot, we ended up blending two of our ideas together. Courtney had some awesome ideas about immunizations gone wrong and I had written a short story for an anthology about a world in the future where everyone has a special power. We smooshed the two ideas together, added a strong heroic female lead who is still very much a teenager and BAM, we had the ingredients for making The ELE Series.

Currently the ELE Series consists of three novels: Project ELE (which is FREE), Finding ELE and our most recent release- Exposing ELE. We will be releasing the fourth novel: Surviving ELE this month in February. We've been asked how many books will be in this series. We honestly don't have an answer to that yet. Willow's story hasn't been fully told, so there will be at least one to two more books that follow up after Surviving ELE. We are currently working on a novella called: ELE, which will show all of our main characters before they were forced to head towards the shelters. We figured this inside scoop would be an exciting edition for our fans and a sort of prologue to Project ELE.

For more information on our ELE Series, check out the book descriptions below. We hope you will take a chance and download your free copy of Project ELE and dive into Willow Mosby's futuristic world.

The ELE Series

Millions have already died, and thousands more are perishing daily. As a last ditch effort to preserve the human race, the government implements Project ELE. With the earth heating at rapid speeds, all remaining survivors are forced to turn to F.E.M.A. shelters to wait out ELE's wrath.

Fifteen-year-old Willow Mosby's life, as she knows it, ends the moment she walks through the shelter's door. Willow has to quickly adapt to the new challenges that shelter life demands, which includes making new friends and working a full time job.

Soon after making an interesting discovery, Willow and her friends start exhibiting strange abilities. Seeking answers, they embark on a mission to find out what these new abilities mean and whether they are a gift or a curse.

This new adventure can send her world crashing down around her. The question is: Can Willow survive the fall?

From the authors of Night Marchers comes a new apocalyptic series with a paranormal twist.

     The Books
The Night Marchers Series. NEVER, EVER lock eyes with a Night Marcher! Everyone in Hawaii has heard this warning, except for seventeen-year-old Emma Townsend that is. For most Hawaiians know that looking into the eyes of Night Marcher can strike a curse that will end in death or eternal servitude.

Even though her father, who is a paranormal investigator, solely raised Emma, she has little experience in the realm of the supernatural. When she is forced to move with her father to Hawaii, only months before her graduation, Emma finds that her world as she knows it, is shaken when she starts seeing the unexplainable: fire balls in the distance, beating drums in the middle of nowhere and strangers who vanish into thin air. Then one day when she has a run in with a procession of Night Marchers, ancient Hawaiian spirits wandering from their burial grounds to their locations of battles past, Emma has no choice but to believe that the unbelievable does exist.

Now Emma must go on the run with the help of a mysterious stranger, as they seek out how to free Emma from the curse of a Night Marcher, who will stop at nothing to get her soul.

With the earth heating at rapid speeds, all remaining survivors are forced to turn to F.E.M.A. shelters to wait out ELE's wrath.
