When we first started writing, we used each other more for a confidence booster, someone to tell the other they were doing a great job and that every word they were writing was perfect. What BFF wouldn’t say those words? Well, as time progressed we realized that working together benefited us in other ways as well. The whole “great minds think alike” saying… totally applies to us. We usually see the same vision when writing a story and help each other make it stronger by making just that perfect change without discouraging the other. Having a writing partner also helps when that blasted writers block hits. It’s as simple as saying “okay, your turn” and they just take over. It’s almost like magic! As Indie authors there are so many other benefits to being a team such as, someone to help with all the self promotion, sending off query letters, Tweeting, Facebooking, and all those other internet media sites that often require a college degree to figure out!! And of course with all the exciting stuff comes all of the bad stuff. When you get those denial letters or that bad review…having someone that hates those people just as much as you do is kinda nice.
That being said, working with someone so closely isn’t for everyone. In fact, I probably wouldn’t recommend it. It’s like going into business with family…not something most people can handle. But we think we handle it wonderfully and plan to continue to conquer the literary world together, one word at a time.
